Description

Following up on their earlier WLAN Systems and Wireless IP for Next Generation Communications, the authors (of DoCoMo Euro- Labs, Germany and the Center for TeleInFrastruktur, Aalborg U., Denmark) attempt to answer questions left unaddressed regarding how IEEE 802.11 wireless local area networks (WLANs) work together with higher layer protocols such as the IP layer, their interactions with the mobile network and WLAN business models. They present eight chapters that look at market and business cases; the details of the IEEE standards; security issues; quality of service; roaming, handover, and mobility management; WLAN deployment and mobile integration; and future generation communications.
