The book in hand is the first study of the key aspects of Maulānā Ḥamīduddīn Farāhī’s thought in English language. It focuses on Maulānā Farāhī’s prescription of methodology for a revival of religious sciences (Iḥyā’ ‘Ulūm ad-Dīn) rooted in a comprehensive study of the Holy Qur’ān. Chapters are based on Maulānā Farāhī’s concept of coherence (Niẓām) in the Qur’ān, his epistemological thought (conveyed through chapters on his principles of Qur’ānic exegesis, and Ḥadīth), his cosmological, and political thought. Since Maulānā Farāhī wished to emphasise the common origin of all Semitic Scriptures, relevant passages from the TaNaKh and Gospels have also been regularly cited. The book aims to alleviate the many misconceptions regarding Maulānā Farāhī’s methodology and provide a basic framework for English speaking students who seek to study Maulānā Farāhī. It also seeks to encourage a scholastic trend to produce more literature on Maulānā Farāhī in English language since most of the literature related to his works is either in Arabic or Urdu languages.
