Description

The book contains a very thorough mathematical analysis and presentation on the subject of quantization noise. It is the only such book I have found, apparently not many authors dare to dive into this field. It is a nice exception to the many sloppy works (directed at EEs) that dominate the field of signal theory. Widrow/Kollar are also pretty good at explaining things - but they don't cut corners, so the book is still very heavy. A surprisingly annoying thing is that they haven't been more stringent in the introductory section. Most (any I have seen) text books avoid inserting the parameter for phase dependence of the sampler in Eq 2.2 (coeffcients a.n aren't all 1, they are a function of the phase), but it really needs to be there to describe an aliasing sampler near Nyquist, and it is done here as well. This common error is the source of confusion regarding non-isoplanatism in image sensor theory. Still, get this book if you ever talk about quantization noise.
