Description

From the technical perspective the book is well written. I would even venture to say the book is great for people just getting into Nagios monitoring, as it goes from a basic set up to on-fly configuration modifications with event handlers. I would, if only the book wasn't lacking so much in terms of editing. I'm sorry to say that, but the number of poorly phrased sentences is tremendously high, especially for a UK-based publishing company. Every now and then I had to re-read a sentence once or twice just to understand what is about, which makes it a bit hard to read but you can get used to it, and when you do you'll get a lot of valuable information from this book. Although in my opinion this books yearns for some editing I can (with a clear conscience) recommend it to anyone deploying Nagios in his IT environment. Even if you already have a working Nagios configuration you will most probably stumble upon some good ideas here to help you make it more maintainable or simply more suited to your organization needs. I know I did.
