Наведені відомості про 374 види рідкісних і зникаючих тварин Донецької області (серед яких 189 видів занесені до Червоної книги України та 185 – підлягають особливій охороні у межах області). Для кожного виду наводяться таксономічна належність, природоохоронний статус, ареал розповсюдження та поши- рення в країні та області, чисельність і фактори, що загрожують існуванню виду, біологічні особливості, заходи, що вживаються з охорони та такі, що слід запровадити. Видові нариси проілюстровано фото- графіями та картосхемами розповсюдження виду в області, де наводяться відомості з літературних дже- рел і оригінальні дані авторів нарисів. Для зоологів, працівників природоохоронних структур, співробітників лісового та мисливського госпо- дарства, викладачів вузів, студентів, вчителів, школярів та широких кіл громадськості. Taxonomic affi liation, nature conservation status, distribution range and distribution in the country and the region, the number and factors that threaten the species, biological characteristics, adopted measures of protection and those that should be implemented are given for each species. Species essays are illustrated with color photos and distribution maps in the area, which provide information from literary sources and original information by authors of the essays. The book is intended for zoologists, environmentalists, forestry and hunting workers, university lecturers, students, teachers, schoolchildren and the general public.
