Description

The foundation of Central Europe and the awareness of the Central European identity over the centuries has always been the similar fate, the coexistence and cooperation of the people living here – and this is what maintains it to this day. We, the participants of the International Civil Conference held in Kecskemét, prompted by our deep-seated conviction, do believe that – relying on the readiness for cooperation rooted in the traditions of the people living here – we will strengthen and make our civil relations continuous and more efficient. It was some ten years ago that – within the framework of the Call published by the Polish-Hungarian Civil Organizations of Óbuda – an exchange of civil ideas started. The objective of this Conference is to widen this exchange of civil ideas and to establish it as permanent. The objective of the work of the civil organizations operating in the countries of Central Europe is to enhance the capability of “doing good” so that the work of civil organizations – thus also the local society on the regional and interregional level – shall be imbued with this intention deeper and deeper, furthermore to achieve that this has an impact on the cooperation between nationalities, nations and states as well. We are of the opinion that the development and actual realization of this intention and capability aimed at “doing good” can be regarded as the earnest requirement so that democracy shall strengthen in our countries, and mutual trust and cooperation shall strengthen between the nations.
