Description

TAPASVIJI MAHARAJ, 'the Saint," was born a prince and died a king--a king of yogis. In the late 1820s, at over 55 years of age, he adbdicated and set out on his quest for God-Realization. Over the next 125 or so years, he applied his indomittable will to the spiritual process through the anciet method of penances (tapas). Three times youth was restored to him by means of the naturopathic method of kaya-kalpa native to India, and each time he harnessed the strength of his rejuvenated body to engage spiritual austerities still more fiercely. Based on Shriman Tapasviji's own testimony, this biography records the arduous process of kaya-kalpa, the Saint's extensive pilgrimages (during which he made many strange and miraculous encounters), and his rigorous discipline, which was tempered only by his love and compassion for others. During his wanderings the Saint met numerous masters of tapas or yoga and witnessed their magical powers. At times, he chastised them for misusing their psychic capacities and even demonstrated his own superior force in order to teach them a lesson in humility. His life was picked with unusual happenings, strange coincidences, and miracles. If read with an open heart, this colorful biography will lift the reader out of his ordinary state of consciousness and sensitize him to the yet untapped possibilities in his life.
