Methods for assessing the level of automation and technical level of cars, machines and production are described, and a classification of production machines by link is given. The main elements of the theory of linear automatic control systems and technologies for studying the stability of the simplest automatic control systems are considered. For the first time, the car depot is presented as a linear automatic capacity control system. Power drives, power heads, methods for calculating the performance and reliability of automatic machines and production processes, issues of forming design schemes of automatic machines and ACS schemes using computer designers are considered. It is intended for students of railway transport universities studying in the specialty 23.05.03 "Railway rolling stock". It can be useful for employees of the car repair complex.
