The Palazzo Barbarigo has always featured a characteristic façade with a terrace looking out on the Grand Canal. The main façade is located on the Rio di San Polo. This study explains the origin of this unusual architectural hallmark and examines the multi-epochal features of the Palazzo’s interior decoration and the Barbarigo family’s once renowned collection of paintings.
