The same aircraft had scrambled 50 minutes previously to intercept a British formation of two reconnaissance Hurricanes escorted by eight Spitfire fighters. Then, finally, at 09.30 black specks appeared in the sky: one, two, two more and then the fifth one. The men standing on the airfield breathed a sigh of relief.
