Open AccessThis study investigates sexual offenses that were committed in the early modern Jesuit order against school pupils, students, confessants, and other Jesuits. It reveals patterns of sexual violence that extended to spiritual fields but were only prosecuted by the heads of the order in extreme cases. This approach allows new light to be shed on the history of the institutions of Jesuit education and pastoral care.
