This book is intended for foreign learners whose knowledge of the Serbo-Croatian language is at an intermediate level, that is, on the assumption that the learner has covered the main difficulties in elementary grammar (the declension of nouns, pronouns and adjectives, and main verbal tenses) and sentence structure, and has acquired an active vocabulary of about 1200 words.The book has thirty-five short passages from prose and seven from poetry, and is divided into three parts.Part one has twenty-five reading passages. After each passage there are (a) a list of phrases and more difficult words, (b) comments or grammatical explanations, (c) exercises, and (d) short biographical notes on the author.Part two has ten passages on Yugoslavia followed by (a) a list of phrases, (b) an exercise of five questions upon the text, and (c) short biographical notes on the author.Attention! Part three, keys and vocabulary (pages 143-208) are missing.
