9 Keys to Successful Painting: For those who love to paint but don’t have the time to study the science behind painting (Magunta Dayakar Art Class Series Book 6)
Book information
Description
Painting is a personal taste whether you take it as a hobby or as a profession. Every artist finishes a painting the way he would like to see it, it may be a landscape, human figure or still life. But sometimes he would be in confusion about the quality of the painting, is it good or not? Usually he won't get an answer which would help him to come out of his confusion. This problem remains with him forever, if he won't try to find what are the keys to a good painting. To create a good painting, one must understand the science behind it. This science deals with Value, Color, Composition and many other things. Every artist must learn those things or else he would never be good at his work. Once he understands them, then he has to apply them in his work spontaneously, just like how one drives a car. When you started out learning to drive a car, you would have been very conscious about clutch, break, gear, accelerator and steering wheel along with the road. After a lot of practice, you would be no more conscious about them except the traffic on the road. You only think about how to drive safely through that traffic. Doing a successful painting is also like that. The way, how the driver observes the different vehicles, people and their movements in the traffic, the same way artist also would watch how the elements on his canvas evolve when he is doing a painting and refine them moment to moment for the outcome that he wants to capture. To paint like that, artists use science of painting in a spontaneous approach just like an expert driver, who knows how to drive. In my years of experience in teaching students, I had seen many students who love to paint seriously, but don't have the time to learn even though they would like to do so. But a student who does painting with intense passion, if he is aware of a few painting keys, which are the essence of the Science behind Painting, even if he doesn’t know them in depth, it would help him to understand what he has to capture in his painting. That kind of understanding would solve many of his problems when he paints. This book is for those who paint with intense passion but don't have the time to study the science behind painting in depth even though they would like to learn it. To guide them, I am explaining about those few painting keys in this book with visuals. I believe this simple visual narrative approach will help them to understand what they should do to finish a painting in the right approach.
