Goldwin Smith (13 August 1823 – 7 June 1910) was a British historian and journalist, active in the United Kingdom and Canada. He held the regius professorship of Modern History at Oxford from 1858 to 1866. He held the professorship of English and Constitutional History in the Department of History at Cornell University from 1868 to 1872.
