This volume includes Marx’s three previously unpublished "Crisis notebooks" with excerpts, newspaper clippings, and notes dating from the first world economic crisis in 1857–1858. The Crisis notebooks are closely connected to Marx’s Foundations of the Critique of Political Economy (Grundrisse), his articles for the New York Tribune, and debates with Engels – all of which analyze the 1857–1858 crisis.
