London: Samson Books, 1978. — 150 pgs.This book is the Roll of the recipients and the story of the campaign medal issued for the frontier wars between 1834 and 1853. Just over 10,500 medals were struck. The author has done tremendous work in transcribing surviving rolls and recreating lost ones. Nominal lists are presented for the Royal Navy and Royal Marines, 7th Dragoon Guards, 12th Lancers, Royal Artillery, Royal Engineers and Royal Sappers and Miners, 2nd Queen's Royal, 6th Royal Warwickshire, 12th East Suffolk, 27th Inniskilling, 43rd Monmouthshire, 45th Nottinghamshire, 60th Kings Royal Rifles, 72nd Duke of Albany's Highlanders, 73rd, 74th Highlanders, 75th, 90th Perthshire Volunteers, 91st Argyllshire, Rifle Brigade, Cape Mounted Riflemen, Staff, and colonial corps and levies. Other points covered are the pale orange ribbon, Sir Harry Smith's medals distributed for gallantry, and statistics for the several campaigns.
