Published in conjunction with the June 2001 exhibition at The Museum of Modern Art in New York, this volume studies Ludwig Mies's best-known projects and also those which he excised from the record. In addition to his metropolitan skyscrapers and office buildings, it also discusses the urban fabric of central Berlin, analyzing his private houses and relating them to German ideas about nature, and to the great work of environmental art embodied by the cultivated landscape of Potsdam.
