Description

Part III: The Pure Gaze: Essays on Art, Chapter 8 // International Social Science Journal, 20 (Winter 1968), pp. 589-612.Bordieu examines perception of art created in our respective cultures. He explores how conditions that make it possible to experience a work of art are distorted by the act of recapturing the work’s objective meaning. There is no such thing as art perception without cultural codes knowledge, that is called "cultural competence" - ability to define artistic school, genre, technics, "citations". It is shown how uneducated are being accounted as incapable of deciphering art and are limited to understanding only elementary components.
