Description

The populations that are now Egypt and Nubia have a common Saharanancestry. Dividing at some point in its history, the first developed a great civilization, while the second remained initially with the same pastoral way of life. The relations between Nubians and Egyptians were not always peaceful due tothe inordinate ambition by the Egyptian of natural products of the Nubian’s land, fromwhom they needed in great abundance the gold, the ivory, the ebony, the animal skins, the incense and the myrrh, which also could come from Punt, and other exotic products, that were the delight of the Egyptian kings and helped them to impose Egypt as a greatpower before other foreign people. Believing in life after death, the Egyptians neededincense for the rituals in funerary temples and other sacred spaces, and myrrh tomummify their dead.To undertake the expeditions in search of these articles, as well as manpower,Egyptians take over the Nubia especially in phases corresponding to the great times inthe history of Egypt, except for interim periods. They extended borders, created lines offortresses and built temples and some cave temples. After the end of the New Kingdom, the Nubian kings, taking advantage of thedivision between the Egyptians and the prevailing climate of instability in the Delta, conquered Egypt in the XXV dynasty uniting the country of the two Earths and Nubia, remaining so until the arrival of new foreign people, the Assyrians. Then, with the decline of pharaonic power after the fourth century BC., Nubiawill empower and separate itself from its powerful northern neighbor, who had receivedthe lights of civilization.
